WE STILL HAVE A LOT TO ACCOMPLISH – JP DUMINY
Just recently, the South African Cricket Team defeated their Australian counterparts in their own grounds during the three-Test series.

Makhaya Ntini is a little bit annoyed that most of the nations don’t opt for their main players
Makhaya Ntini is a little bit annoyed that most of the nations don’t opt for their main players to play the series against Zimbabwe and it’s mostly a group of the newly emerging players which they send. The Reds coach wants to make every Cricket board realize that experimentation can lead to defeats in Zimbabwe and thus, has vowed to thrash the team that has come from the BCCI’s side for the One Day internationals and the Twenty 20s. It’s only weeks back that Ntini was added to the Zimbabwe set up as a bowling consultant and he has had a promotion in the job rather quickly as he is now heading the coaching staff of the national team with Dave Whatmore getting thrown out. Ntini though, being from the African continent himself, would know the Zimbabwean culture well and the promotion of him is not completely shocking. The initial statements of the Ex-South Africa bowler already suggest that he would coach the same way he played and that is with aggression. Whatever he said in the media interaction on Friday evening pretty much suited to the personality he was when he had the ball in his hands. He was as aggressive as anyone else. (more…) Read more...
South Africa has beaten Bangladesh in the 2-game T20 series by 2-0
South Africa has beaten Bangladesh in the 2-game T20 series by 2-0. After Bangladesh’s promising performances against top nations in home conditions, it was believed they would be able to run South Africa close as well, but, it wasn’t to be. South Africa proved to be too difficult an opponent for the Tigers as the series ended up quite one sided. The Bangladeshi bowlers, who had been so effective against India and Pakistan, continued their good work in this series too. But, it was the batsmen who failed to be up to the task against the high quality attack of South Africa which had a great mixture of pace and spin. In both the games, South Africa batted first and Bangladesh managed to restrict them to a score which could have been chased with a bit of application, but, it did not happen. Bangladesh fell short by significant margins. First game, they lost by 70 odd runs and second by 31. Both the teams had taken this series as a preparation for the World Championship coming up next year and if these performances are any hint, then, Bangladesh needs to improve batting. However, this has been a long season and Bangladesh has performed better than the expectations. So, there is no point for them to introspect too much. The One Day International series will start shortly and Bangladesh will like to make an impact in that. Their ODI side is probably more balanced than their T20 side. (more…) Read more...
South Africans are setting the stage on fire in the current edition
The South Africans are setting the stage on fire in the current edition of the Indian Premier League. Whether you talk about Faf Du Plessis, AB De Villiers or the big, mighty Morne Morkel, each one of them is being sensational so far. Hunting down more than 200 against Mumbai Indians the previous night at home, RCB were looking miles behind until De Villiers came in and smashed it all around. He found the long on fielder at the score of 41 and the job remained unfinished, but, it was one of the most thrilling knocks to have ever been played in the IPL. Ten more minutes of De Villiers that night and Bangalore would have won from the verge of defeat, he was in such lethal form, the Proteas skipper. Du Plessis maybe has not done that much with the bat and that’s because he has not had a settled batting position. He has got pushed to 6 or 7 at times, while, has been asked to bat 4 in a couple of games as well, but, in fielding, he has been as good as anyone else. In the list of the top catches of the tournament so far, Du Plessis features two or three times. As far as Morne Morkel is concerned, he has been the pick of the fast bowlers in the whole tournament along with CSK’s Ashish Nehra. The kind of zip Morkel has generated on lifeless Indian pitches, it’s brilliant. (more…) Read more...
